Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has covered wars as well as natural disasters for more than 45 years. She focuses on the suffering of people living in these regions. Curry has covered wars around the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Curry was born in Japan, and born to a Japanese mom. Her father was a U.S. Navy sailor. Her mother was being with her dad in Japan after World War II. Due to her father's military duty, the family frequently moved. They finally arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. In 1978, she graduated in 1978 from The University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Ashland was her last high school. When she was an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she was able to lay the foundation for a lengthy and lucrative television career. She was an early female journalist of KTVL's history when she turned 22. After that, she moved onto becoming an anchor and reporter for KGW, an NBC affiliate station in Portland. Her return in Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. In her time with the station, she received an Emmy Award and two Emmy Awards.
